David Bennett – Volunteering

David Bennett has lived in Brockenhurst since 1998, and was bought up on the edge of the New Forest. He had a varied career starting as a journalist (including as News Editor of BBC Radio Solent and reporting for South Today). He then worked in local government, was an officer in the RAF reserves and ran his own media company. He retired six years ago.

His working life and upbringing have given him a strong belief in public service, and the needs and benefits of volunteering. Keeping busy, doing enjoyable tasks in the company of others, and contributing to our communities is essential, and David hopes his experience with many local and national organisations, some of which continues, will contribute to this.
